Antoni Bolinches
Founder and Director
Autobiography
I was born in Barcelona in 1947, into a humble family in the Sants neighborhood. I had a happy childhood in a house with a patio and streets without cars, until, at the age of fourteen, I started working as a messenger at Banco de Vizcaya. I had little education, no clear vocation, many questions, and a few insecurities that grew as both my height and my life stalled in a sedentary banking career.
I went through a few failed relationships and several fulfilling ones, until, at twenty-five, I had a child I wasn’t ready for—and decided to prepare myself to become a good father. I began studying Psychology at the University of Barcelona and radically changed the course of my life, swapping the bank for backstage. I became a pretentious, unsuccessful actor, an unpublished screenwriter, and the author of cabaret plays that found success precisely because they made no claim to it.
At thirty, I earned a degree in Philosophy and Education Sciences, and later graduated in Psychology with a thesis on the function of transference. I eventually completed my training with a Master’s in Human Sexuality and a Diploma in Clinical Sexology. Since then, I’ve worked with over three thousand clients as a therapist and have led hundreds of classes, talks, and workshops.
Over these forty-seven years of practice, I’ve developed my own therapeutic method and published eleven self-help books, two compilations of quotes by others, and one anthology of my own aphorisms—all of which have gained popularity thanks to the kind support of readers.
This is the story of my past and present—a story I hope to continue into the future. From now on, I’ll be supported by a skilled team of women in the therapeutic area, allowing me to devote more time to promoting my books and sharing my method.
